Healthy and happy is balanced living!

Hi – I’m Brandy.

I’ve always loved strawberry Twizzlers. That’s one thing that hasn’t changed in my life. More on that in a moment.

But – I think it will be most helpful to you if we start with this little story here…

I believe the secret formula to a happier life starts with having daily enjoyments like good foods and Twizzler treats (…that’s a tongue twister if you say it 10 times).

I also believe in living in balanced alignment with yourself in whatever season you’re in.

This hopefully will become more clear as you read on…

It all began for me in 2008 when I left one of many high-stress corporate management jobs I had leading up to that time… one role in particular I served, I reached deep body-mind imbalance and enjoyed less and less as time wore on.

…And that’s actually how I discovered practicing a modern, Ayurvedic preventative healthy lifestyle that I still embrace today as a Happy Vata living in western world America (now that I know what to do)… along with my two-decade ingrained practice of a two-day off approach to eating healthy five days a week for celebrational and healthy weekend eating… and for a Vata body who craves food variety, that’s very important!

That’s the premise of why this blog exists, with continuing weekly new posts to help inspire you to a healthier, sustainable lifestyle and body (and in an interconnected healthy body-mind way).

We each have our own personal story that makes us special and unique.

Part of my life’s journey has been working around food in the travel and hospitality industry, and helping thousands of people plan business events and fun parties (who couldn’t use more of that?). Those roles fit my happy Enneagram 7 personality 😊 …but, catering is tough because it’s hard to get days off (Labor Day isn’t a holiday).

Sustainability is even tougher because you’re daily tempted by chef-foodie prepared tastings and dishes. I guess you could say it’s a perk for sticking it out, but it also takes discipline to say no to delicious, rich foods to keep a healthy weight and balance. …I mean, try eating out at your favorite restaurants every night of the week and see what that does to your waistline.

So these days, I still love being a foodie but in a different way… learning about evolving good and healthy foods, macro and micronutrients, and preparing tweaked to taste, healthy versions of traditional dishes.

That’s how you and I could be alike. We want to be healthy and happy and look healthier in the way we define.

We’re empowered now to live in wellness– happily and optimally and we’ve been given the keys to living longer than ever before. At our fingertips, we can get inspiration to live in harmony, balance, love, joy, and peace. That’s not a pep talk, that’s simply what can be yours if you choose.

You get to determine your happiness now using your healthy mind and body. Do you believe this? I sure hope so.

If you want to live well or in parts of the amazing life you dreamed of with less anxiety, you can! no matter what your situations are. It is mind over matter if you believe.

If that’s something you aspire to or want to improve, I encourage you to keep coming back to this blog safe place and breathe in less anxiety and more happy living tips and wisdom.

Ok, final thoughts… maybe this describes you, as it once did for me:

You feel burned out, underwhelmed, or deeply unhappy, going through the motions in a job or life you don’t love. The work-life balance isn’t there or climbing the corporate ladder isn’t what you thought it’d be and now you feel stuck.

You keep going and tell yourself, “someday will be better.”  You live for the weekends or you’re just ready to give up where you’re at (…please don’t). Go with your instincts, and keep growing because you’re developing what you need at this moment.

You don’t have to be sad, angry, irritated, or anxious for anything.

You have the opportunity to restore your balance now and in the future when you’re likely to shift habits and mindset beliefs again (…life is short, it’s also long like a marathon, and as our society is living longer). You may even experience a welcomed identity shift (or two).

Restoring balance if you know what to do, is actually fun stuff, small changes, and not work at all.  …at least I think so, as I live for both work and play. Remember daily enjoyments, mentioned above? …little bits help you to restore your balance and joy.

If you make a few effective changes that work for your unique self, gradually you’ll learn how to recognize balance when situations are good and when they don’t look that way.

No matter what your life is now, it will not be what it is a decade from now and what it becomes. And that depends on what you do now. You could be in your second or third act of a career, relationship, or lifestyle.

Start with restoring your healthy body and mind. It’s the answer to your happiness in this season where you can get better outcomes.

Figuring out how to read your body’s clues (that are connected to your thought life) is a skill you can learn and get good at.

You can have your slice of cake and eat it too without regret… and, I personally can’t imagine life without an occasional cake where I had some of my fondest childhood and recent celebration memories. And maybe that’s you too.
