Virgin mint julep is a drink you can sip on and a warm tea drink for a cold day like the 152nd Derby Day. Or you can add ice.

And long after the horse derby, I’m still dreaming of this tea drink. Below I give you the recipe and you can make ordinary tea a special experience… as much as the events and celebrations in your life.
This virgin mint julep is a simple drink to make that will please those who want a unique and tasty drink that tastes like mint julep, but is a virgin mocktail. It has the cinnamon, vanilla, sweetness, and of course… mint!
If those are good with you, then you’ll like this elevated tea drink!
To make the virgin mint julep tea, gather these grocery ingredients:
Nutcracker Sweet Tea (or a cinnamon and vanilla black tea)
Peppermint Tea
Molasses- sweet caramel and smoky taste hints
Peppermint extract
Mint or Other Garnish
This is a good way to change your drinking tastes and drink more healthy teas like black teas.
Most black teas are high in polyphenols and have some caffeine. It comes from the same Camellia sinensis tea plant and leaves as green tea, but the oxidation process is different so it yields a different type of tea.
Peppermint tea is an herbal tea good for all kinds of aches like stomach and headaches. Try it!
You can also use a spearmint if you want less of a toothpaste taste. That’s not how I see it with my sweet tooth, but some people do.
And blackstrap molasses is sugar, make no mistake about that… but it has calcium, iron, and magnesium minerals and lower glycemic index (not as likely to spike blood sugar) than pure sugar.
In a drink like this, it enhances the subtle dark but sweet flavors.
