Chocolate frosting is delicious on a spoon (by itself). It’s so easy to make healthy, tasty, and LIGHT. This frosting is made with egg whites and gluten-free flour.
There’s NO heavy cream or powdered sugar that’s in most frosting recipes.
…It’s healthy with low sugar and an anti-inflammartory type of sugar. More on that below.
Oh, and if you’re like me who likes the idea of a baking mixer because that means sweets are near, then this is a good recipe for you.
Because it’s all about using the mixer.
When I was a kid below counter height, the mixer used to tickle my fancy.
I remember when my mom brought out the equipment on rare occasion. And that made me happy to see the mixer doing its magic.
And whipping up meringues is one happy way that this recipe is ALL about.
And to make it sweet healthy, plant-based monk fruit sugar is used instead of white granulated or regular table sugar.
Monk fruit sugar looks like white sugar and I think tastes like granulated sugar but much sweeter, so you don’t need as much.
In meringues, monk fruit doesn’t create the same texture effect as table sugar, but since this is frosting that doesn’t need meringue soft or stiff peaks, it’s the perfect healthy substitute. 🧁
Chocolate Frosting Healthy Ingredients:
Egg whites
Almond flour (gluten-free)
Monk fruit sugar – anti-inflammatory
Raw Cacao: use raw cacao that doesn’t have sugar like most cocoa powders you find.
Cacao with two “a’s” and not two “o’s” as in cocoa is especially polyphenol healthy. This is an anti-inflammatory recipe that high percentage raw cacao dark chocolate is.
Use an unsweetened, raw cacao that is not alkalized (processed or Dutched cocoa) for the healthy tastes. And this is the best kind to bake with too!
And yes… is perfect for cakes and cupcakes! 🧁
Remember to look for cacao that can also be used to make a drink like hot chocolate, or used to bake with and make desserts like healthy chocolate cake, brownies, and cookies… so no worries about ingredient expiration waste.
You got other bakes up your sleeve. 😊
For super duper double chocolate, or if you want to add a gloss glaze shine (…who doesn’t love that?), you can also add a layer of melted chocolate the best way I know how… that c’mon is dessert exciting! 🍥
…And only gets more exciting when you can smear your chocolate frosting imprint on some cupcakes or squares. 😋
