Grapefruit Brûlée

Grapefruit brûlée makes a great amuse bouche or food item for a brunch or breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole grapefruit (pink, red, or yellow, etc.)

Instructions

  • Set grapefruit down on cutting board or plate and cut horizontal in half.
  • You'll now have two halves that you can place on an upper oven rack about 4-6 inches from the broiling heat element at the top of the oven.
  • Close the oven door and turn the broil setting on for about 4-5 minutes or until desired browning happens. Turn the oven light on and watch. Safety: Do NOT open hot broiling oven (about 525°F) until the oven broil setting is turned off and until the heating element is cooled or black color instead of heat red.
